Moving into Our New Office
In May, we took the step of moving into the neighbouring building, where we have set up our new office and Larval Propagation Laboratory. From 2027 onwards, we also plan to establish an Information Centre for the local community and visitors here.

Over the past few months, we have gradually set up the laboratory and purchased various materials and equipment to further advance our coral larval propagation project. This includes microscopes, various materials for collecting coral larvae, containers, a laboratory oven, a laboratory refrigerator, transport boxes and much more. We are slowly getting ready for the upcoming coral spawning season and are excited to take the next steps in our project.
More Space for Our Team and Our Work
The new office in the front is a bright and spacious room with enough tables and workstations for our team. With our new Fisheries Co Management Team and scientist Dr. Ashlee Lillis, who leads our coral larval propagation project and also has her workspace in our office, we needed additional space.

The bright room also gives us new opportunities for our educational work. We can use the space to host talks for interested student groups and tourists, as well as workshops for local fishers, boat captains and school classes.
Developing the Garden
We are also gradually developing the garden into our new outdoor and wet area. Plans include a new dive locker and compressor room, as well as a dedicated workspace for larval propagation and laboratory work.
This additional infrastructure directly outside our office will allow us to better connect and coordinate the different areas of our work.
Information Centre from 2027
Together with the Zoo Basel, we are planning to establish a new Information Centre for the local community and visitors in 2027.
The plan is to create an interactive space where people can learn about the marine environment, corals, coral propagation and marine conservation. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the underwater environment of Jambiani, our work and the importance of protecting marine ecosystems.
We are very excited about this next step in the development of our organisation and look forward to further developing the Information Centre, collecting inspiring ideas and creating a space for learning and exchange together with our partners and the local community.
